Introducing ECN PIND™
Most organisations know the benefits of trading with their distributors and customers electronically. However, getting your smaller distributors and customers to make the transition to EDI is difficult (they struggle with the cost and the technology).
ECN Plug IN Distributors™ (or ECN PIND™) allows you to trade electronically with 100% of your distributors and customers by plugging them into your ERP system. There is also a version for your Suppliers (ECN Plug IN Suppliers™ - ECN PINS™).
Some of our customers also refer to ECN PIND™ as ECN PINC™ Plug IN Customers™.
How ECN PIND™ works
ECN PIND™ is an Internet based product that allows your distributors and customers to access your catalogue and make orders via a website.
This website then translates these orders into EDI messages and sends them as Purchase Orders directly into your ERP system.
Your distributors and customers can then view your Purchase Order Acknowledgements, Advanced Shipping Notices and even Invoices (from your ERP system) via the website.
Any changes distributors and customers make are sent back to your ERP, as EDI messages, by ECN PIND™.
All your distributors and customers need to plug into your ERP system is an Internet connection and a web browser.

Message flow:
This system diagram shows the message flow process. Note how all the incoming messages are EDI regardless of if they originated on the web or in an EDI system.

Supplier Engagement
For your site to succeed, you must engage your distributors and customers who don’t do EDI. This is difficult because there are more of them and they are often smaller and less techno savvy.ECN can do all or part of this work for you. This involves contacting distributors and customers, explaining and selling the concept and workings of ECN PIND™ and then signing and supporting the users.
This engagement may take many forms such as: surveys, web sites, development and production of collateral, email and telesales campaigns, ongoing phone and email support etc.
What is in any one campaign and what role ECN plays, depends on the client’s needs.
